2012 BMW ActiveHybrid 5 Shows Its Face [Spy Shots]

Being a preview of the production car that will come to market in Spring of 2012, the ActiveHybrid 5 Concept unveiled in 2010 at Geneva Motor Show, was a real hit at that time. Well now, after almost a year, the production model shows its face ahad its soft launch later this year and you can see it here because we have some spy shots taken in a parking lot.

As a reminder, BMW Concept 5 Series ActiveHybrid made its debut with a 3.0 liter straight-six N55 gasoline engine with TwinPower Turbo technology, eight-speed automatic transmission, and electric drive. Developing a maximum output of 40 kW, the electric motor offers a boost function.

Beside this, despite the fact that isn’t very powerful, the electric motor can become the main source of power, considering that the drivetrain technology featured in the BMW Concept 5 Series ActiveHybrid allows all-electric, zero-emission motoring in city traffic. In addition comes the special hybrid-based Auto Start Stop function, which offers additional efficiency by consistently switching off the combustion engine when stopping in the traffic.

Moreover, the ActiveHybrid 5 should deliver a standard fuel consumption of around 8 liters per 100 kilometers, despite its more than 300 horsepower.

Except a slightly revised front grille and fascia and different wheels options, the production ActiveHybrid 5 sports a similar design as the current 5 Series sedan. will distinct the 5 Hybrid from the standard version.

Road-Going Aston Martin V12 Zagato Going To 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show

Two moths ago Aston Martin announced the production of the V12 Zagato. Now the British car maker has decided to let it shine at a major international auto show, and with the Frankfurt event coming next month, the car manufacturer will officially unveil the V12 limited production car.

In fact, two versions of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato, including a Nurburgring racing version, will be on display at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show in September. The manufacturer will show two Zagatos under the “Zig” and “Zag” names. While the “Zig” will be the first one and it will be finished in a distinctive green color, featuring a full aerodynamic package, the “Zag” has already been seen at the Villa D’Este just before being converted to be like its “sister”.

Considering that many of its Zagato designed panels are hand-made, either from aluminum or carbon fiber, only 150 examples of the V12 Vantage-based Aston Martin V12 Zagato will be built.

Aston Martin Zagato uses its 5.9-litre V12 engine, which sends 510bhp and 420lb ft to the rear wheels. That’s enough to give the V12 Vantage a 4.4sec 0-60mph time and 190mph top speed, though the Zagato’s handcrafted aluminium and carbonfibre body should give it a kerb weight around 100kg lighter than its donor car’s 1680kg, boosting performance figures.

As for the prices, pricing is quite steep, starting at £330,000, or about $540,000 at current exchange rates.

Mitsubishi's Future Car Plans, Confirmed

Mitsubishi will kill the Eclipse and Galant models to concentrate on B- and C-segment models, including the Lancer, Outlander Sport, and a lineup likely to be based largely on the Colt, including a small crossover. We first revealed the product plan, sort of, a year ago in April 2010 "Trend."

We presented two scenarios. One, reported from Tokyo, said Mitsubishi was considering a hybrid-powered Evolution XI. The other, from Detroit, suggested the concentration on B- and C-cars, though it didn't predict the expiration of the long-forgotten Eclipse.

The second scenario is much closer to the automaker's emerging plans. If there is an Evo XI, it will probably be based on the B-segment Colt. Think of Ford's Fiesta-based rally car, and you get a good picture of Mitsubishi's direction. As a niche automaker in the U.S. and elsewhere, Mitsubishi also will build up its electric and hybrid powerplants, featuring its i-Miev pure electric. Mitsubishi has showed a Chevrolet Volt-style plug-in gas/electric hybrid, and if it makes it into production, it's likely to power a new B-segment crossover or a future version of the Outlander Sport.

Mitsubishi, which early in the last decade was bigger in the United States than Subaru, sold just 55,683 cars and trucks here last year, up about 1700 units from 2009. Much of that came from its Normal, Illinois, assembly plant, which will concentrate on its compact platform in the future.

Last year's best-seller was Mitsubishi's Lancer, with 21,416 units sold.

2013 Chevrolet Corvette C7 get new engine of 3.0 liter V8

The new 2013 Chevrolet Corvette C7 had been recently developed by General Motors. The C7 rumored to be featured with a small capacity, high increased 3.0 liter V8 turbocharged.

General Motor source claimed that the Chevrolet Corvette C7 engine is able to increase the operating speed as high as 10,000 rpm, equal with when Ferrari is running. The official power of the Chevrolet Corvette C7 has not been released yet but the rumor spreads the information if the engine will produce approximately at 300 kW.

The information in which the General Motors has already unveiled is that the Chevrolet Corvette C7 model will comes in something ‘totally different’ to the previous model, Corvette as we knew it. Other reports also expects that the new model of the vehicle might comes in mid-engine dynamics which will bring this new model ahead to more direct competition to Ferrari as apposed to the previous front engine rear drive layout.

The traditional idea of the ‘big block’ Chevs seems will not be totally threw away into the recycle bin. Just guesses, it is most probably that the huge engines will remain installed in some models. Zenvo ST-1 50S come in North American

Zenvo ST-1 50S is a new model specialized for sale in the North American market, produced by Denmark’s Sportcar manufacturer – the first from Denmark.

The Zenvo ST-1 50S is coming from the limited standard Zenvo ST-1 that is only produced 15 units. The ST-1 50S, which is only 3 of the 15 limited standard ST-1 units, gets some extra features and more power than the standard version. The standard Zenvo ST-1 is powered by a 7.0 liter supercharged and turbocharged V8 that can produce an output of 1104 HP and 1430 Nm of torque with which the standard ST-1 can hit a limited top speed of 375 kilometers per hour and run 0-100km/h only in 3.0 seconds, combined with a six-speed manual transmission or an optional F1 paddle shift seven-speed transmissions. On the other hand, its North American version, the Zenvo ST-1 50S, has a total power of 1250 HP and 1500 Nm of torque or 145 HP and 70 Nm of torque more powerful than the standard St-1.

The ST-1 50S becomes a very special version that it has some extra features. Those are unique colors of 1 x Intense Red, 1 x Crystal White and 1 x Mediterranean Blue, individually numbered vehicle with Special Edition Plaque signed by the engineers and the owners, Special individual Monogrammed seats, standard F1 seven-speed transmission and Magnesium wheels.
